Thank you for your continued prayer support as we transition from ministering in a local church setting to ministering alongside many churches as North American Mission Board Missionaries. Starting a new ministry in the middle of a recession requires great faith, faith in the only One who can supply all our needs. Someone said giving is down in churches and ministries, but obedience to the Great Commission doesn’t require that we check the financial situation and wait till things improve. We must obey and continue to join the Father in His mission to reach the world with the gospel.
Great Adventure Missions’ motto is “Local Missions, Global Impact.” Georgia is home to people from 145 different countries. We desire to reach those within the vicinity of local churches so that the world can be impacted for Christ. We are starting in our own neighborhood by reaching out to apartment complexes in our area. Our mission is to encourage people to obediently follow Jesus Christ. One of our objectives is to encourage churches to join us in building relational bridges by hosting block parties in cross-cultural multi-housing communities. Ninety percent of these residents don’t attend church and are in need of hearing the good news of the gospel.
The Lord is opening doors right here in Sugar Hill. In April, we will host our first block party with a Sunday School class from Sugar Hill Church (First Baptist Church Sugar Hill). We will have hot dogs, balloon animals, face painting, and games, and we will be sharing Jesus using the EvangeCube. We are excited about the relationships we are beginning to build and the opportunities God is opening up with apartment managers and others in the community. We are humbled to be called into so great a service.
We invite you to join us in reaching these people and many others for Christ. We ask you to first join us through prayer. The Sugar Hill block party is scheduled for April 25, 2010. Pray that we will develop relationships and lead others into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for the team that they will experience God in ways they have never before. Pray for opportunities to share the good news. Pray that the Lord will call volunteers and leaders to help with ongoing ministry.
We are now a part of the Mission Service Corps and are reliant on financial support to continue our ministry. The Southern Baptist Convention created Mission Service Corps (MSC) to get more people on the field to spread the gospel. MSC Missionaries are long-term, self-funded individuals who plug into their assigned ministry throughout North America. Thank you for your prayerful partnership.
In Christ,
